India’s gems and jewellery exports saw a decline of 4.62% in April, totaling $2,037.06 million, compared to the same month last year, according to data from the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). Last April, exports were recorded at $2,135.7 million.
Exports of cut and polished diamonds dropped by 6.12%, amounting to $1,108.74 million, down from $1,180.99 million in April 2024.
Gold jewellery shipments also fell by 5.41%, reaching $688.51 million, compared to $723.63 million the previous year.
Polished lab-grown diamond exports remained almost unchanged, with a slight increase of 0.41% at $110.74 million, up from $110.29 million in April 2024.
Exports of silver jewellery faced a sharp decline of 12.03%, totaling $383.3 million.
On a positive note, coloured gemstones exports grew by 11.95%, reaching $27.76 million, compared to $24.8 million in April 2024.
