Van Cleef & Arpels has marked its official entry into the Indian market with the opening of its first boutique in Mumbai, a strategic move to tap into the country’s growing appetite for luxury jewelry. Located in the prestigious Jio World Plaza, the boutique spans over 3,000 square feet and features the maison’s signature Parisian elegance, with interiors adorned with lacquered wood, crystal chandeliers, and custom-designed furniture. To commemorate this milestone, Van Cleef & Arpels has launched an exclusive collection, “Mystères Indiens,” inspired by India’s rich cultural heritage.
The collection pays tribute to India’s artistic traditions, incorporating motifs such as paisleys, lotus flowers, and Mughal architectural patterns. A highlight is a necklace featuring a 20-carat emerald sourced from Colombia but cut in Jaipur, surrounded by diamonds and rubies arranged in a traditional Kundan style. Another notable piece is a pair of earrings inspired by the intricate jali work of Indian palaces, with white gold filigree set with sapphires and pearls.
The boutique’s inauguration was attended by Bollywood celebrities, business tycoons, and members of Indian royalty, reflecting the brand’s positioning as a symbol of timeless luxury. During the event, Van Cleef & Arpels showcased its iconic Alhambra and Perlée lines alongside the new collection, offering clients a comprehensive experience of the maison’s craftsmanship.
India’s luxury market has seen exponential growth in recent years, with high-net-worth individuals increasingly investing in rare and exclusive jewelry. Van Cleef & Arpels’ entry is seen as a response to this demand, with plans to open additional boutiques in Delhi and Hyderabad in the coming years. The maison has also announced partnerships with local artisans to create bespoke pieces that blend French savoir-faire with Indian techniques, further solidifying its commitment to the region.
