Widely regarded as one of the 20th century’s most gifted artists, legendary jewellery designer Jean Schlumberger continues to captivate collectors and connoisseurs with his fantastical creations. More than six decades since their debut, Schlumberger’s nature-inspired designs remain at the forefront of high jewellery — as evidenced by a recent Tiffany & Co. showcase in Koh Samui.
A standout of the March event was the Bird on a Pearl capsule collection, which reimagines Schlumberger’s iconic avian motif perched atop extremely rare natural saltwater pearls. This striking reinterpretation marks a departure from the vibrant gemstones typically used in past designs.
The Bird on a Pearl first took flight in 2023, when Tiffany & Co. Creative Director Nathalie Verdeille introduced the concept of placing the famed bird atop pearls instead of traditional gemstones. The Koh Samui showcase was not only a celebration of Schlumberger’s enduring legacy but also the first time these exceptional pearl creations were presented in Thailand.
