Van Cleef & Arpels’ high jewellery collection, Treasure Island, has made its regional debut in Phuket, following its initial unveiling in Miami last November. This 300-piece collection, inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel Treasure Island, brings the adventure to life through intricate designs and luxurious gemstones.
The Phuket presentation showcased a selection of pieces reflecting key elements from the novel, including pirates, voyages, desert islands, and treasure troves. Among the standout creations are a trio of pirate-themed clips (or brooches), each named after central characters from the book. These pieces are crafted with remarkable attention to detail, featuring gold, ruby-studded fabric, curled parchments, and playful elements such as a gold peg leg or a hook for an arm, inspired by literary pirates. Despite their fierce appearance, these pirates are portrayed as joyful and wearable, adding a touch of whimsy to the collection.
Henrio from Van Cleef & Arpels playfully mentioned, “One of our pirates might be a bit scary, with his hook, but in the Van Cleef & Arpels world, the pirates are very joyful and nice – and can be worn every day as a clip.” The collection captures the essence of adventure, translating it into wearable art that embraces both beauty and storytelling.
